Donald (Domnall MacAlpin) succeeded his brother Kenneth. He consolidated the gains won by his bother, and at Forteviot brought secular as well as ecclesiastical control under the emerging area of Scotia. Killed in battle, or possibly murdered, he died at Scone but had no heirs. He was buried on Iona and succeeded by his nephew Constantine.
