THE PENNY BLACK OF THE 20TH CENTURY
|
The first low value stamps picturing Queen Elizabeth II are called Wildings because they used a photograph taken by Dorothy Wilding. This striking replica miniature sheet was issued 50 years later on the anniversary of the 1st class stamp (top left). Our signature is extremely relevant. Lord Patrick Lichfield is the man behind the first major change of the Queen's Head design on UK overseas territories stamps in 20 years. The changes were made from a digital photograph of his cousin, Queen Elizabeth II taken at Buckingham Palace in November
Quick Facts: Wildings miniature sheet (Dec '02) is a First-day Cover Issue date (2002-12-05): 05 December 2002. |
