Zara Phillips is the daughter of Princess Anne and her first husband Mark Phillips. She was born on 15 May 1981 and is the eldest granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip. She was educated at Beaudersert Preparatory, Port Regis, and at like other members of the Royal Family at Gordonstoun school in Scotland before attending Exeter University where she qualified as an equine physiotherapist.
Like both her parents Zara is an accomplished horse rider and eventing champion. She won individual and team events in the 2005 European Eventing Championship, individual gold in the 2006 World Equestrian Games, and team gold in the 2007 European Eventing Championship. She was voted 2006 BBC Sports Personality of the Year, and awarded Member of the British Empire (MBE) for her services to equestrian sports.
She carries out duties on behalf of the Royal Family and attends various events for equestrian and children’s charities including Inspire, Cauldwell Charitable Trust and the Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital.
Her boyfriends have included, National Hunt jockey Richard Johnson, with whom she lived for 4 years and was engaged, and Rugby player Mike Tindall who was a member of the 2003 England World Cup Rugby winning squad.
